Join our guides Reto Thörig and Juan Antonio Lo Bello on a guided wine tour through the Basel Wine Festival. For example discover, taste and explore how to match Swiss Chocolate with different styles of wines. The 90 minute tours are offered in both German and English and can be booked directly through our ticket shop.

The following tours are offered by Antonio Lo Bello in English

Two extremes of the wine world. Cold vs Hot climate wines.

The tour will take you to explore (and taste!) the contrasting world of wines produced under cold and hot growing conditions. A great opportunity to teach your palate how the aromas, fruit, acidity and the balance of the wines change at both ends of the wine world.

Chocolate & Wine. The Epicurean walking tour. 

Chocolate on its own is good. Wine on its own is pleasant, but Chocolate & Wine together are superb! Let's discover, taste, explore and savour the many options we have to match Swiss Chocolate with different styles of wines. A great learning experience to pass on to your friends and family!

How to taste wine, in a simple and practical way.

This tour is designed for beginners and the curious wine drinker wanting to learn a few simple tricks to improve their tasting skills. In a simple way, you will able to compare and taste wines with different levels of intensity, complexity and quality. We will provide the first steps into your wine appreciation journey. Please join us!

My curiosity and love for wine started in Mendoza, Argentina, close to the original “Juan” (my grandfather). Worked for 15 years in the wine industry in the UK. Founder of the Wine Guru on Wheels in Basel to provide personalised education and wine experiences for people at the comfort of their homes. Teaching and sharing wine knowledge is a great passion of mine, hope you can join us!
